I'm not sure what you mean. It does appear to be on the left - where it should be - shouldn't it? -- pecoes 01:09, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
Zone Map Notes
I just had a few minutes and took the opportunity to filter the zone map notes out of your wiki. By my count there are 116 annotated maps with 13630 notes (117.5 on average). Does that sound about right for you?
This is where I got the data btw:

- Taking into account quest pages and whatnot they appear on, that sounds about right. Raylan13 (talk) 05:01, June 20, 2013 (UTC)
- Okay. So the next question would be what to do with all that data? The most basic and possibly also most convenient solution would be to store it in JSONP format in the wiki itself. My suggestion would be to store it in the MediaWiki namespace to make it read-only for non-admins and to keep it out of Special:WikiActivity and Special:RecentChanges. For File:WorldMap-Barrens.jpg e.g. I'd store the markers under MediaWiki:WorldMap-Barrens.js. The upside to this solution would be that the markers can be easily requested with JS on a per-map basis and applied to any size. The downside is of course that this bypasses Semantic Maps. But since you guys don't seem to use that extension anyway... -- pecoes 05:18, June 20, 2013 (UTC)
- I'm all for the basic and convenient route - makes it better for admins to later make changes if maps get altered by the developers and to potentially add new maps down the line with more expansions. If you'd like, I can grant you admin status over there to see what can be done. The admins shouldn't have any issue with that. Raylan13 (talk) 05:23, June 20, 2013 (UTC)
Alright. Let's do it then. I'd start with a single map - just to see how useful the data will turn out to be. A word of warning though: Editing JSONP by hand is not quite as convenient as editing all those template calls by hand. It's also a bit more error prone. MediaWiki:WorldMap-Barrens.js e.g. would look (more or less) like this:
(zoneMapNotes = zoneMapNotes || {}).Barrens = [{"icon":"Blip","title":"Boulder Lode Mine","left":"66.57","top":"12.74"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Mor'shan Rampart","left":"42.7","top":"15.41"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Dreadmist Peak","left":"42.86","top":"38.8"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Forgotten Pools","left":"36.99","top":"45.21"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Far Watch Post","left":"67.22","top":"39.75"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Crossroads","left":"49.65","top":"58.08"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Ratchet","left":"67.93","top":"72.28"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Lushwater Oasis","left":"40.26","top":"74.95"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Sludge Fen","left":"57.96","top":"19.5"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Dry Hills","left":"27.59","top":"31.68"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Grol'dom Farm","left":"53.84","top":"41.04"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Thorn Hill","left":"58.42","top":"49.23"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Stagnant Oasis","left":"55.69","top":"80.18"},{"icon":"Blip","title":"Merchant Coast","left":"70.55","top":"89.12"}];

- Consider rights granted ;) I'm going to drop off to sleep now (late here), but I'll be back on in ten or so hours. Thanks again for finding time for this! Raylan13 (talk) 05:53, June 20, 2013 (UTC)
