- Should I make a whole new page for this code?
- Assuming that I make a brand new page, & I set up this code as an import, do I just make the .js file a subpage of the actual article?
- When attributing the authors, should I add Ozank Cx as the author, myself as the author, or both of us as the authors, since I’m going off of his original code?
- Should I go ahead & add the languages with Google Translate, or just stick to the verified translations?
- Will other users help with the Language like they helped with the old one?
ALL POSTSFirst time creating a script questions

I’m working on an expanded version of the MediaWiki:ContribsLink/code.js, one that not only adds the Contribs link, but a blog link as well, in addition to more languages. I’m not sure if, once I’m done testing it with personal JS, I should make a completely new page, or just add to the existing one. In addition, I’m not a linguist by any stretch of the imagination, so I’m mostly going off of Google Translate, my rudimentary knowledge of Spanish, & the languages that have already been translated in the old code. So what I was wondering is this:

Also, I’m still new, so I’ll probably post a request for its review in another board soon.

Generally, you make a documentation page (i.e. ContribsLink) listing the installation method and notating any relevant changelog data. The link to the
code.js page should be included in the JS infobox. If you are using code borrowed from another source, that developer's name is listed in the "Using code by" field. Since Ozank did not actively contribute to the creation of your script, he is not listed as an author.

Your code goes on a MediaWiki page. The naming convention is either MediaWiki:ScriptName.js or MediaWiki:ScriptName/code.js, with ScriptName being the name of the mainspace documentation article.

Translations are generally added by other users fluent in specific languages. There are a number of frequent contributors here who provide translations in multiple languages, so I would recommend you stick to the languages in which you are fluent. Invariably, others will provide select translations as needed.

Ok! Thanks, I think I know what to do now. However, the code itself seems not to be working properly. Could you hit up the Code Review thread?

Yeah, give me a few minutes to sort it out.
