Issues

Has anyone else been running into issues with this? I added it to the MCU Wiki when it was on version 1.0.14, and it continued to work fine as it got updated to version 1.0.15 and version 1.0.16. Then with version 1.0.17, it just stopped. Specifically, the issue is that submitting the reply just does not go through. You can still hit "Reply" and type your message, and the preview works as intended, but hitting "Reply" doesn't submit. I thought it could be lag, and went to another tab, but even 20 minutes later it's just there, and refreshing the page shows that the reply did in fact fail to go through. Even with the (as of right now, current) version 1.0.18, the problem persists. I was curious if this is an issue other users who are using this script are having. • MJLogan95Message WallContributions 18:33, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for reporting this issue. I'm currently working on a fix. I'm so sorry I didn't catch this issue sooner, and I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. I'll leave a comment here when the issue is fixed. Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 18:40, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
I've made the necessary fixes in version 1.0.19, which I have thoroughly tested and confirmed that it works. So, once Fandom approves v1.0.19, everything will be back to normal. Again, thanks for reporting the error, and thank you for using EasyTalk. :) Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 19:25, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick fix and response! EasyTalk is great, and thank you for making it! :] • MJLogan95Message WallContributions 19:35, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
You're welcome :)
v1.0.19 has been approved, so everything should work as expected now. Happy editing! Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 17:59, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for the update! • MJLogan95Message WallContributions 18:04, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Replying after archived section

There seems to be another slight issue. I noticed you edited the Archive template on the MCU Wiki, so you're aware of its existence. While your change there did remove the EasyTalk Reply feature from being shown within the Archive template, when a user replies to a comment below the template, it is being added within the template. As as shown here. I've since undone the edit to the Archive template to allow EasyTalk to be used as intended by the community. • MJLogan95Message WallContributions 21:19, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for the report! I've included a fix in v2.0.1. Now we just need to wait for that to get approved. Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 00:28, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
I've re-implemented the other changes to the template that aren't related to the problem. Once v2.0.1 goes live, we can fully re-implement the change so the reply buttons don't show up inside archived sections. Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 00:36, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
Thank you. I didn't know which specific thing was messing it up so I regretfully had to undo the revision. I'm glad the changes unrelated got to be restored. • MJLogan95Message WallContributions 00:48, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
So the same issue has returned where I used EasyTalk to reply under "Rename II" but the reply was being placed under "Rename I" which was archived. • MJLogan95Message WallContributions 00:32, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the report - this has now been fixed. Sorry for the long wait! Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 18:34, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
No worries, it was just that one incident, but glad to know it's been fixed! Thank you. • MJLogan95Message WallContributions 22:17, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

Suggestions

Hello, I have the following two suggestions for this script:

  1. The timeago feature currently has no corresponding strings in the translation file, which causes it to render text like "1年 ago" (meaning "1 year ago") when the Chinese language is in use. Furthermore, time formatting conventions vary across different languages. For this reason, it is recommended to add a dedicated string to configure the format of the time value and the "ago" suffix. For example, in Chinese, this can be directly written as "$1前".
  2. The font color of the Talk stats section uses a hardcoded value, resulting in insufficient contrast between the text color and the background color on some wikis. Taking Memory Alpha Wiki with the Light theme enabled as an example, the contrast ratio between #A2A9B1 and #FFFFFF is only 2.37. For this reason, it is recommended that the font color be automatically adjusted based on CSS variables.

Thanks for the feedback:
  1. The translation issue is fixed in v2.1.9, which has yet to be reviewed by Fandom. I've made use of an existing system message, MediaWiki:Ago, so no changes to the translation file will be necessary.
  2. I've updated the talk stats color to use a CSS variable.
Again, thanks for the feedback! Mr. Starfleet Command (talkcontribs) 17:35, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
